Tarot Reading
Truly random tarot draws read as warm, reflective guidance by your agent
For anyone who enjoys tarot as a tool for reflection and wants their AI agent to read like a thoughtful, grounded reader instead of a fortune cookie.
Language models are bad at randomness: asked to "pull a card", they favour famous cards and avoid repeats. This skill hands the shuffle to a small Python script that shuffles the full 78-card deck with your operating system's cryptographic random source and deals single-card, past-present-future, Situation/Action/Outcome, two-paths, Celtic Cross or custom spreads, with optional reversals. A seed option makes a draw reproducible when you want to revisit it, and manual mode lets you type in cards you drew from your own physical deck.
Your agent then reads each card in its position, ties it to your actual question, spots patterns across the spread (major arcana, dominant suits, reversals, repeated numbers) and writes a structured reading with reflection questions and small, self-directed next steps.
You get: the skill instructions, the draw script (standard library only, with a self-test), a 78-card reference with upright and reversed keywords and a reflection question for every card - all written for this skill, using the public-domain Rider-Waite-Smith card names - and a reading guide with spread layouts, synthesis techniques, a report template and a complete worked example.
Readings are for self-reflection and entertainment. The skill reframes yes/no and fortune-telling questions into open ones, makes no medical, legal or financial predictions, and steps out of the reading if someone mentions a crisis.
Highlights
- Cryptographically random shuffle - the AI never picks the cards
- Single, three-card, Celtic Cross and custom spreads, reversals optional
- Reads cards you drew from your own deck, too
- 78-card keyword deck with a reflection question per card
- Reflective tone; no medical, legal or financial predictions
Example
Can you do a three-card tarot reading for me? I'm thinking about leaving my agency job to freelance as a designer. Reversals are fine.
*Tarot for reflection and entertainment - perspectives, not predictions.* | Position | Card | |---|---| | Past | The Chariot (reversed) | | Present | The Empress | | Future | Three of Wands | **Past - The Chariot (reversed).** A stretch where your drive was pulling two ways - pushing hard at the agency while part of you was already heading elsewhere. Where were you forcing momentum that did not feel like yours? **Present - The Empress.** Creativity that grows through care, not pressure. This is a season for tending what you would build - portfolio pieces, the projects that energise you - not only for deciding whether to jump. **Future - Three of Wands.** Early results from efforts already set in motion: widening horizons rather than overnight change. **The bigger picture:** from forcing, to cultivating, to early expansion. Core message: *grow the path before you step onto it fully.* **To reflect on:** Which three "ships" - conversations, samples, small paid projects - could you send out before deciding anything final?
I drew three cards from my own deck this morning: The Tower, Five of Pentacles reversed, and The Star. Past, present, future. What do they say?
**Past - The Tower.** Something that looked solid came down - a plan, a role or a belief. The Tower clears structures that were not built on true ground; it describes upheaval, not punishment. **Present - Five of Pentacles (reversed).** Reversed, this card of hardship turns toward recovery: help arriving, warmth returning, being willing to accept support. Is there an offer of help you have been slow to take up? **Future - The Star.** Calm after the storm. The Star is quiet, renewable hope - not a rescue, but a steady light you keep feeding. **The bigger picture:** two major arcana frame a classic arc - upheaval, recovery, renewal. Core message: *let yourself be helped, and the rebuilding gets lighter.*
Will my ex come back to me? Just yes or no.
Tarot can't see into another person's mind or decide what they will do - but it can help with your side of this. Let's ask: "What do I need to understand about this connection and what I want now?" I'll use three cards - You, The other person (as you experience them), The connection. Reversals on or off?
